8. Nike SB Koston 1

2011 was another strong year for Nike SB with a variety of new releases on the iconic Dunk silhouette, the P-Rod 5 and the Omar Salazarr 2.  All great models but without question the jewel in SB’s crown this year was the Nike SB Koston 1. (Let’s hope this was never a real thing).

When the shoe released on 4th June the crowds and hypebeasts went nuts for the Kobe x Koston collab (which was actually not that nice).  We waited quietly to collect the blue/gold colour way released at the same time.

The real greatness of the Nike SB Koston 1 is it’s simplicity.  With TPU backed soft suede uppers and a neoprene sock liner the shoe was always going to be on point but the real magic, the real point-of-difference comes in the outsole.  What appears to be an innocent cupsole actually houses a sturdy and responsive Lunarlon wedge, providing an amazing level of comfort under feet.  The best bit of that means you can now enjoy the unparalleled comfort of Nike’s Lunarlon foam technology without looking like you’re off to run a marathon on the Moon.

The Nike SB Koston 1 will hopefully become a staple of the Nike SB collections going forward.
