The Candy Store London – Launch Reminder

“On Friday September 21st, the doors will open to London’s new dedicated streetwear spot The Candy Store. The store will stock the best in independent streetwear from highly sought-after brands that aren’t readily available in London – including The Hundreds, Diamond Supply Co., HUF, 10.Deep, Mishka, Benny Gold, REBEL8, The Quiet Life, Acapulco God and more.

Candy already have one store in Birmingham, with a long standing history in the city, and are looking to make their mark on London with their second location.

The store was designed by the Wilson Brothers who also put together local stores Foot Patrol and Supreme.

The store officially opens on Friday September 21st at 10am, with a day of opening celebrations.

There will also be an opening party which will take place at the store from 7pm next Thursday September 20th. The line up includes UK scene selector, Piff Gang DJ and Bump resident Motive, fast-rising Londoner Darq E Freaker who recently worked on the Danny Brown smash ‘Blueberry’, and Rinse FM legend/Eglo Records boss Alexander Nut.

There will of course be plenty of drinks to be sunk on the night, in the company of good people and good music.”

Outlook On Music Mix Series – OOM:3/Barely Legal

The latest volume of the Outlook On Music mix series features up-coming, female talent courtesy of Birmingham-born, London-based DJ Barely Legal.

According to the guys at Outlook she possesses an ‘effortless style that draws from classic UK Garage and Grime to the most up to date and forward thinking bass‘. All we know is we like the sounds this girl makes. Check the mix and tracklist below.

Converse Represent at 100 Club

Converse are gearing up for a series of shows at London’s legendary 100 Club at the end of the month.

The Represent shows will see 45 artists play the intimate Oxford Street club over 9 nights. The UK Subs, Paul Weller, SBTRKT and Santigold are all due to play shows.

Our Carling Zest track

You might remember that at the end of last week we told you about the great new interactive app Carling have going with DJ’s Yoda, Food and Jaguar Skills. If you don’t then refresh your memory here. We’ve been playing with the app on YouTube since then. It’s fairly addictive to say the least.

Carling Zest Summer Bottled App

To help launch their new limited edition summer beer Carling have called upon legendary artists DJ Yoda, DJ Food and Jaguar Skills to produce their own summer mash-ups to help launch their Carling Zest beer. The tracks are made using only a variety of sounds the artists think define summer. DJ Yoda’s track is above, DJ Food and Jaguar Skills’ cuts, as well as behind-the-scenes bonus footage, can be found here.

After you’ve heard theirs you can have a go at making your own summer inspired mash-up on the YouTube app here. I didn’t even know YouTube apps like this existed, but they do, and by using it you could end up in winning some tickets to V Festival.

Sampled Sale

Sampled are back for their latest ‘sicker than your average’ sample sale/record fair/art sale in London on 26th-27th May.

The sale will feature products from brands like Stussy, Alife, Silas and DTA.

As stated above there’s a bunch of other stuff going on as well that is sure to keep you entertained including a nail bar, art sale, record fair and music from the likes of Mr. Thing and Spin Doctor.

Sampled will take place at Bar Music Hall, 134 Curtain Road, Shoreditch, London, EC2A 3AR on 26-27th May from 12-6pm. For more details head over to sampleduk.com.

Tupac at Coachella

Surely this is the most insane thing ever?

Coachella always gets a lot of hype. It looks crazy but this is beyond mad. A hologram version of Tupac appears to perform a couple of tracks in Dr. Dre and Snoop‘s set. Insane?!

My main want from this is Paul McCartney and Ringo need to bring back John and George for a show.

Solomon & Finder are currently in the studio working on the follow up to last year’s Lust EP and have been kind enough to leak a little something from their sessions.

StreetFest 2012

It was just the other day I was wondering if StreetFest would be making a return for 2012 and as it turns out it is!

With Devlin set to headline StreetFest will be happening on Sunday 6th May in Shoreditch.

StreetFest has long been brewing as a staple of an East London scene with a variety of different elements on show. From grafitti curated by VNA Magazine to music from Urban Nerds. There’s even rollerblading on show…

Tickets are £12 which ain’t bad for a good day out, check streetfest.net for all the details.

Odd Future Sweatshop in London

After the madness that happened at Reedspace in New York a couple of weeks ago the 2012 snap back Jordan Hypebeast set are bound to be dodging school and hanging around Shoreditch for the next few days trying to get a look at the Odd Future Sweatshop.

The Odd Future Sweatshop is open at Shop 13, Brick Lane from 28th March-2nd April.
